Vehicle Handling for a Mobile Racing Title

A compact racing project where the core feel work — handling, camera and track feedback — had to land inside a tight mobile performance budget.

The challenge

The build had to feel responsive on mid-tier Android hardware, where naive physics and camera work cost frames and battery life. Existing handling was floaty and the chase camera fought the player during drift.

Our approach

We rebuilt the vehicle controller around a deterministic step, separated input sampling from physics, reworked the chase camera with damping and collision handling, and profiled draw calls and particle budgets on real devices. Every session ended with a build the client could test.

What shipped

Handling, camera and track feedback were signed off against the agreed acceptance criteria, and the project moved into content production with the performance budget documented for the art team.
